Building Peaceful and Resilient Communities — Day 1
On October 8, 2025, GoGreen Environmental Health and Sustainability Initiatives (#GoGreen) successfully held the first batch of our Income Diversification Training under the Nigeria SPRiNG Programme, funded by the UK Government and supported by Tetra Tech International Development Services.
Themed “Building Peaceful and Resilient Communities: Empowering Youths and Women through Income Diversification Skills,” the training brought together youths, women, and persons with disabilities from Zongo and Daudu communities in Benue State, two communities that have endured years of conflict, losing not only livelihoods but also opportunities for peace and growth.
Held at the Centre for Food Technology and Research (CEFTER), Benue State University, the session offered practical, hands-on training in cassava value chain development, modern agribusiness, and packaging innovations. Each module was designed to encourage low-capital startup ventures, climate-smart practices, and inclusive participation—especially for women and persons with disabilities. Participants learned how to transform raw produce into market-ready products and identify innovative business opportunities that can help rebuild economic stability in conflict-affected communities.
This initiative goes beyond skill acquisition; it’s about restoring hope, promoting empowerment, and advancing peacebuilding through economic resilience.
At #GoGreen, we believe that economic empowerment is peacebuilding in action, and every skill shared is a seed of hope planted for a more peaceful and prosperous future. Together, we are turning challenges into opportunities and helping communities thrive again.
