Community Peace and Climate Action Celebration – Abinsi, October 17, 2025

The Community Peace and Climate Action Celebration, held on October 17, 2025, was spearheaded by the #Abinsi Youth Peace Network, led by Agatha Iordzua, a GoGreen_SPRING Youth Peace Ambassador, in partnership with the Abinsi Community Peace Committee.

The event date was intentionally aligned with #YouthClimateActionDay to highlight the vital link between #peacebuilding and environmental sustainability.

Over 400 participants, including traditional leaders, youth and women representatives, religious and ethnic groups, and the GoGreen field team, gathered to celebrate Abinsi’s inspiring journey from conflict to peace and to reaffirm their collective commitment to sustaining harmony through inclusive, climate-conscious community action.

This celebration stands as a shining outcome of the Nigeria SPRiNG Programme, funded by the #UKGovernment and implemented by Tetra Tech International Development Services. Through a participatory approach, the program has empowered local actors—especially youth and women—to take ownership of their peace processes and drive sustainable transformation.

The Abinsi Community Peace and Climate Action Celebration symbolizes the success and sustainability of the SPRiNG Programme’s interventions. What began as an externally supported peacebuilding initiative has grown into a locally driven movement, where communities are not only maintaining peace but also designing events that reinforce unity, resilience, and shared progress.
