FOSTERING PEACE AND UNITY THROUGH AGROPASTORALISM IN ABINSI COMMUNITY

In a significant stride towards peace, unity, and cooperation, #GoGreen, through the SPRiNG Project supported by Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and Tetra Tech International Development Services, is implementing agropastoralism practices for farmers and herders in the Abinsi community of Guma Local Government Area. On Saturday, #February 15, 2025, an important milestone was achieved as both farmers and herders gathered to commence #dryseason #planting at the community’s #demonstration #farm

This collaborative effort aimed to provide #practical, hands-on training in #agropastoralism, demonstrating how both communities can work in harmony. The day was dedicated to cultivating the designated plots with maize and Napier grass, showcasing the feasibility and benefits of agropastoralism in promoting #peace and sustainable #agriculture

The event witnessed an impressive turnout of both male and female participants from farming and herding backgrounds, all working together with dedication to ensure the land was properly prepared and planted. Under the guidance of #Dr. Ikyume Timothy an esteemed agricultural consultants, community members followed #best #practices in planting, ensuring optimal growth conditions for the crops.

The successful planting at the demonstration farm not only signifies a strong commitment to peacebuilding but also reflects a growing interest among the Abinsi community in adopting #agropastoral #methods for sustainable agriculture.

At GoGreen Environmental Health Sustainability Initiatives, we remain committed in our mission to support local communities by equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to manage scarce resources effectively, fostering peace and collaboration between herders and farmers.
