Capacity Building, Peace Building

GoGreen Advocates for Youth-Led Peacebuilding on Radio Nigeria Harvest FM, Makurdi

As part of the activities marking the 2025 International Day of Peace, the GoGreen team was featured earlier this morning on Radio Nigeria Harvest FM, Makurdi, alongside Hon. Mah Peter to discuss one of the most pressing issues of our time—the critical role of youth involvement in peacebuilding.

The discussion centered on a powerful truth: young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are active stakeholders of today. Their voices, energy, and creativity hold immense potential in shaping the future of communities, particularly in states like Benue, where conflict has left deep scars. By engaging young people as peacebuilders, we open a pathway for healing, reconciliation, and rebuilding trust in communities torn apart by division.

Listeners were reminded that peace is not the responsibility of a few; it is a collective endeavor where the involvement of youth is essential. With their resilience, innovation, and passion for change, young people can bridge divides, promote dialogue, and inspire communities to embrace unity.

The conversation reinforced GoGreen’s commitment—through the Nigeria Spring Programme with support from the UK Government (Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office) and partners—to ensure that peacebuilding is not just discussed in boardrooms but lived out in communities, with youth at the forefront.

By amplifying this message on a national platform like Harvest FM, we continue to spread the call: peace begins with youth, and when they are empowered, sustainable peace is within reach.
