GoGreen & NSCDC Inspire Young Girls to Be Peace Ambassadors on International Peace Day 2025

As part of activities marking the 2025 International Peace Day Celebration, #GoGreen, in partnership with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Benue State Command, organized a powerful peace sensitization campaign at Government Girls Secondary School, Makurdi, on 19th September 2025.

In collaboration with the NSCDC Women’s Peace Wing, the campaign shone a spotlight on young girls—future leaders whose voices and actions are vital in shaping peaceful communities. The students were enlightened on the importance of peace in ensuring an uninterrupted education cycle and inspired with practical ways they can be agents of peace in their homes, schools, and neighborhoods.

Peace Begins with the Young

The interactive sessions encouraged the girls to see themselves not just as learners, but as peacebuilders capable of reducing tensions, mediating conflicts, and spreading messages of unity. By linking peace to education, the campaign reinforced the truth that without peace, children’s dreams and potentials are disrupted—and with peace, opportunities flourish.

Aligning with a Global Call

The sensitization aligned with the 2025 International Peace Day theme: “#ActNow for a #PeacefulWorld,” amplifying the urgent call for collective responsibility in shaping a future free from violence, fear, and division. It was a reminder that peace is not just a wish—it is an action, a choice, and a responsibility for everyone, especially the next generation.

GoGreen’s Commitment

This activity reflects Nigeria SPRiNG and #GoGreen’s unwavering commitment to:
Promoting peacebuilding and social cohesion
Investing in youth empowerment
Partnering with security agencies and community structures to nurture a culture of peace across Benue State and Nigeria.

By planting the seeds of peace in the hearts of these young girls, we are investing in a future where peace is sustained, resilient, and community-driven.

Because when girls rise as peace ambassadors, entire communities thrive.
