Youth 4 Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025 — October 13, 2025

The Youth for Climate Adaptation Action Day (Y4CAAD) is one of the world’s largest youth-led climate adaptation gatherings, organized by the Global Center on Adaptation and celebrated simultaneously across more than 110 countries. The annual event amplifies youth voices and drives local climate actions that align with global adaptation priorities.

The 2025 edition focused on the theme “#NDCs, #NAPs, #Youth and #Adaptation”, underscoring the vital role of young people in implementing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) at community levels.

As part of this global movement, #GoGreen, in partnership with the Global Center on Adaptation and W.M. Bristow Secondary School, Gboko (BSSG), hosted a localized event in Gboko, Benue State, Nigeria, under the campaign “Empowering Schools for Local Climate Action in Nigeria (#ESLCA)”.

The activity brought together over 160 students and staff, alongside key stakeholders in education, environment, and youth development.

The keynote presentation, delivered by Mr. Paul Aginde Jr., explored Nigeria’s commitments under the Paris Agreement, highlighting the nation’s progress in emission reduction and climate adaptation strategies.

A major highlight of the day was the establishment of a Climate Justice Club at W.M. Bristow Secondary School, Gboko, on October 13, 2025. The club will serve as a platform for promoting climate education, youth-led environmental initiatives, and community awareness—a reflection of GoGreen’s ongoing #SPRiNG Programme, which promotes peacebuilding through climate action.

The #Y4CAAD2025 celebration provided a powerful platform for engaging young Nigerians in climate resilience and adaptation. GoGreen’s localized initiative demonstrated how schools can become catalysts for both climate action and peacebuilding.

At #GoGreen, we remain committed to nurturing young climate champions who will safeguard our environment and advance peaceful, resilient, and inclusive communities across Benue State and beyond.
