The AgroPastoral Integration for Peace and Sustainable Development (AIPASD) project is a community-led peacebuilding and livelihoods initiative implemented by GoGreen Environmental Health Sustainability Initiatives under the Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRiNG) Programme, funded by the UK Government (UK FCDO).
AIPASD responds to the long-standing farmer–herder conflicts in Benue State, which have led to loss of lives, displacement, destruction of livelihoods, and deep social divisions within communities. The project seeks to transform conflict drivers into opportunities for cooperation by bringing farmers and pastoralists together through agropastoralism, dialogue, and joint community action.
To strengthen peaceful coexistence, resilience, and social cohesion between farmers and herders in conflict-affected communities in Benue State through integrated agropastoral practices, inclusive dialogue, and community-driven peace initiatives.
AIPASD is being implemented in eight conflict-affected communities across Makurdi and Guma Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Benue State, Nigeria.
These communities have experienced repeated cycles of violence, displacement, mistrust, and livelihood disruptions linked to land use, grazing routes, climate pressures, and weak conflict-resolution mechanisms.
