Turning Inclusion into Action: Centering People with Disabilities in Peacebuilding for a Truly United Benue

At GoGreen Environmental Health Sustainability Initiatives, we believe that sustainable peace is only possible when everyone is part of the conversation, especially those most often left out. In alignment with the SPRiNG Programme’s core principle of #LeavingNoOneBehind, we are working to ensure that our peacebuilding efforts in Benue State are not just inclusive in name, but in practice.

Conflicts often impact vulnerable groups—women, children, and People Living with Disabilities (PLWDs)—in deeper, more complex ways. That’s why under our AIPASD Project (Amplifying Inclusive Participation for Actionable Sustainable Development), we are actively including PLWDs in all aspects of our peace dialogues. These individuals bring powerful perspectives to the table, helping communities identify unique conflict triggers and co-develop locally led solutions for lasting peace.

During one of our recent Community Peace Dialogue Sessions held in Daudu Community, Guma LGA, a participant using a wheelchair shared:

“For the first time, I feel that my voice counts in matters that affect our safety and peace. Being included in this dialogue gives me hope that our community truly values everyone.”

Moments like this are a testament to what’s possible when inclusion becomes action. Through the SPRiNG programme and GoGreen’s unwavering commitment to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), we are not only amplifying marginalized voices—we’re weaving them into the fabric of our peacebuilding processes.

At GoGreen, we’re not just advocating for inclusion—we are living it. Because true peace is only sustainable when no one is left behind.
