Zongo Community Unites for Peace on International Peace Day 2025

In continuation of the 2025 #International #Peace #Day celebrations, #GoGreen, with support from Nigeria Spring and funding from the #UK #Government—UK in Nigeria, hosted a community-based celebration at Zongo Community, Makurdi, Benue State, on 20th September 2025.

The event, themed “#Unity in #Diversity—Celebrating Cultures, Sustaining #Peace,” aligned with the global call to “Act Now for a Peaceful World.”

Highlights included:

• A cultural peace parade and traditional performances by diverse ethnic groups.

• Exhibitions of cultural foods and arts for peace.

• Symbolic planting of three trees named #Tolerance, #Progress, and #Peace.

The celebration drew traditional rulers, community leaders, youth, and women’s groups, who collectively reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining peace and harmony.

This gathering reinforced the power of collective action in building resilient communities and reflects the shared commitment of Nigeria Spring and #GoGreen to foster dialogue, unity, and cooperation for a peaceful Benue State and Nigeria.
