GoGreen’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

GoGreen Environmental Health Sustainability Initiatives actively participated in the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, held annually from 25 November to 10 December. The campaign aimed to raise awareness, educate communities, and mobilize collective action against all forms of gender-based violence (GBV), aligning with global observances such as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Human Rights Day.

The campaign officially launched on Day 1 with a strong call for collective responsibility in ending GBV. Day 2 focused on digital violence, highlighting online harassment and the need for safer digital spaces for women and girls.

From Days 3 to 5, GoGreen emphasized community and youth engagement through grassroots outreach, interactive discussions, and sensitization activities, including targeted engagement in the Imande-Dem community. These efforts addressed GBV norms, prevention strategies, and the role of young people as change agents.

Between Days 6 and 9, the campaign sustained momentum through continuous community education, encouraging local leadership and active participation in speaking out against GBV.

From Days 10 to 12, attention shifted to structural solutions, advocating for stronger legal protections and improved access to survivor support services. Days 13 to 15 further highlighted survivor resilience, prevention strategies, and the urgent need for comprehensive support systems such as psychosocial care, legal aid, and safe shelters.

The campaign concluded on Day 16 with a renewed commitment to ending gender-based violence, reinforcing that the fight against GBV must continue beyond the 16 days.

Why This Matters

Gender-based violence remains a critical human rights issue requiring sustained action from individuals, communities, and institutions. Through awareness, education, and advocacy, GoGreen amplified the message that ending GBV is not a one-time campaign but a year-round responsibility.
