(Climate-Smart Agro-Forestry & Ecosystem Restoration Project)

Project Overview

The Restoration of Mile 4 Forest Reserve project is a climate change mitigation and community empowerment initiative implemented by GoGreen Environmental Health Sustainability Initiatives between September 2024 and April 2025 in Onyepa Community, Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State.
The project was co-funded by Environment and Climate Change Amelioration Initiatives (ECCAI) in partnership with the Benue State Ministry of Water Resources, Environment, and Climate Change, reflecting a strong collaboration between civil society and government to restore degraded ecosystems while strengthening community resilience.

Project Goal

To restore degraded forest land, promote climate-smart agriculture, and empower local farmers and pastoralists to adopt agro-forestry practices that support environmental sustainability, livelihoods, and long-term food security.

Key Interventions

  • Restoration of the Mile 4 Forest Reserve through community-led activities.
  • Planting of 200 economic and environmental tree species within Onyepa Community.
  • Training of farmers and pastoralists on climate-smart agriculture and agroforestry techniques.
  • Community sensitization on the importance of forest conservation, land restoration, and sustainable land use.
