GoGreen and CheerfulHands Initiative Empower Girls Through School-Based SGBV Prevention and Rights Awareness Programme
Empowering Girls. Building Peace. Creating Sustainable Communities.
Today, GoGreen, in partnership with the CheerfulHands Initiative, conducted a school outreach on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Awareness and Prevention at LGEA Primary School, Achusa, Makurdi.
The outreach engaged young girls and adolescents in meaningful conversations about their rights, personal safety, consent, self-confidence, and the importance of speaking out against abuse. Through interactive learning sessions, participants gained a deeper understanding of the various forms of SGBV and learned practical ways to protect themselves while promoting respect, dignity, and non-violence within their schools and communities.
The session also encouraged students to become advocates for positive change by fostering safe environments where every child can learn, grow, and thrive free from fear, discrimination, and violence.
At GoGreen, we believe that empowering girls with knowledge and confidence is a powerful investment in peacebuilding and sustainable development. By equipping young people with the tools to challenge harmful norms and embrace equality, we are helping to build safer, more inclusive, and more resilient communities.
“Knowledge is power. Empowered girls build peaceful communities, and peaceful communities create the foundation for sustainable development.”
