GoGreen Celebrates International Women’s Day 2026 with Impactful Community Engagements in Benue and Abuja

In commemoration of International Women’s Day 2026, GoGreen joined key stakeholders across Nigeria in a series of impactful activities aimed at celebrating, empowering, and amplifying the voices of women, particularly in conflict-affected and vulnerable communities.

The celebrations commenced in Benue State with a vibrant opening rally organized in partnership with the Benue State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. The event brought together government representatives, development partners, community leaders, and civil society organizations in a unified show of solidarity for women’s rights and inclusive development.

Aligned with this year’s theme, #GiveToGain, GoGreen lent its voice to conversations emphasizing the critical role women play in strengthening families, fostering social cohesion, and advancing peacebuilding efforts. The rally underscored a powerful message: sustainable development can only be achieved when women are empowered, recognized, and actively involved in shaping their communities.

Honouring Resilience: Women of Daudu Community

As part of the continued celebrations, GoGreen extended its outreach to Daudu Community in Guma LGA—a community deeply affected by years of violent conflict and displacement.

Despite these challenges, the women of Daudu have remained pillars of strength, demonstrating extraordinary resilience and commitment to rebuilding their community. This year’s International Women’s Day celebration recognized their unwavering contributions to peacebuilding, dialogue, and community development.

Through their courage and daily sacrifices, these women have played a vital role in restoring trust, promoting cooperation, and strengthening grassroots peace initiatives. Their stories reflect the true essence of the #GiveToGain theme—where selfless service and collective responsibility pave the way for lasting peace and progress.

Extending Impact to Karu Community, Abuja

In furtherance of its commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, GoGreen extended the celebration to Karu Community, a suburb of Abuja, in partnership with the JOEAR TRUST Foundation.

The event was graced by His Royal Majesty, Dr. Luka Panya Baba, the Esu of Karu, alongside Her Royal Majesty, Mrs. Maria Panya-Baba, who officially declared the event open. In his remarks, the traditional ruler emphasized the importance of community-driven support systems, particularly in enabling children from disadvantaged backgrounds to access education and build a better future.

As part of GoGreen’s empowerment initiative, tuition support was provided to six vulnerable children, ensuring continuity in their education and offering renewed hope to their families. This intervention reflects GoGreen’s broader mission to promote social inclusion, educational access, and sustainable community development.

Driving Lasting Impact Through Partnership

These activities were carried out in collaboration with partners, including Nigeria SPRiNG, UK in Nigeria, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, and Tetra Tech International Development Services, alongside civil society organizations and community stakeholders.

Conclusion

From Benue to Abuja, GoGreen’s International Women’s Day 2026 engagements reaffirm a strong commitment to empowering women, supporting vulnerable populations, and building resilient communities.

The celebrations served as a powerful reminder that when women are supported and given the opportunity to thrive, entire communities prosper. Through continued collaboration, compassion, and strategic interventions, GoGreen remains dedicated to building a future where every woman’s contribution is valued and no community is left behind.
