GoGreen Shares Benue Insights on Food Security and Peacebuilding at Nigeria SPRiNG Learning Workshop

Food Security and Peacebuilding — July 21, 2026

On July 21, 2026, GoGreen participated in the Quarterly Learning Workshop for the Enhancing Food Security and Peacebuilding in Nigeria Through Strategic Planning Project, organized by the Supply Chain Research and Innovation Hub (SCRIH) under the Nigeria SPRiNG Programme.

The workshop brought together key stakeholders to exchange knowledge, review emerging evidence, and explore practical strategies for strengthening the relationship between food security, resilient agricultural supply systems, and sustainable peacebuilding.

Drawing from our community-based interventions in Benue State, we emphasized that food security and lasting peace are deeply interconnected. When farmers cannot safely access their land, agricultural supply chains are disrupted, livelihoods decline, food prices rise, and competition over scarce resources can deepen existing tensions.

Our contribution highlighted how climate change, resource-based conflict, displacement, and weak agricultural value chains continue to undermine livelihoods, community stability, and social cohesion. Addressing these challenges requires more than increasing food production. It demands coordinated, locally led, and conflict-sensitive approaches that strengthen livelihoods while addressing the drivers of instability.

We also stressed the importance of empowering communities to become active agents of peace and resilience through inclusive planning, climate-smart agriculture, stronger market systems, and improved cooperation among farmers, pastoralists, local leaders, and development actors.

At GoGreen, we remain committed to advancing practical solutions that strengthen food systems, protect livelihoods, reduce conflict risks, and support peaceful, resilient communities across Benue State and beyond.

When communities can produce food safely, protect their livelihoods, and manage resources cooperatively, the foundations for sustainable peace become stronger.
